2 teens arrested for truck theft and damaging soccer field in Gwinnett County

A 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male were arrested Tuesday following a chase involving a stolen truck, a high school football field and Gwinnett County police.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, they were notified that a Ram 1500 truck was stolen from the driveway of a home on Adams Acre Drive in Lawrenceville on August 6. The owner of the truck had video showing the two thieves breaking into several vehicles before finding the keys in the truck and taking it.

After the thieves stole the truck, they allegedly drove it to Mill Creek High School and damaged the football field.

Later that same day, the truck was captured by several flock cameras in the Buford area. Officers responded and found the truck behind a Walmart on Sardis Church Road. The two thieves were inside the truck.

Officers attempted to contain the vehicle by parking one officer behind the truck and the other in front of it, but the truck began to move, striking one of the officers.

Officers followed the truck for a short distance until it collided with another vehicle on Hamilton Mill Road. After the accident, the two thieves jumped out and ran.

The officers pursued the two thieves and used a taser against the 16-year-old girl.

The 17-year-old, identified as Robert Krause of Lawrenceville, was also arrested a short time later.

Krause and the girl were taken to a youth prison. They are accused of, among other things, aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing or attempting to flee from a police officer, reckless driving, hit and run, driving without a license, obstructing the roadway, giving a false name to a police officer, theft by taking a motor vehicle and breaking into a car.
