4 New Jersey Cities on America’s Safest Suburbs List

When looking for a place to settle down, safety is of course an important factor. The safer a place is, the higher the demand and property value.

You may be wondering: Where are the safer places in the Garden State? The folks at SmartAsset set out to find the answer to that question.

To find the safest suburbs in America, SmartAsset compared data from 360 places located within 15 to 45 minutes by car from the 100 largest U.S. cities and with at least 5,000 residents, based on the following criteria:

Violent crime rate

The number of violent crimes per 100,000 residents. Data is from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Database for 2022; missing crime data was filled in from NeighborhoodScout.com.
