Yesterday, Sonic in California was hit with early 2000s nostalgia as Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were spotted working in Duarte this week. Of course, to many, that meant it was the rumored reboot of “Simple Life” – a show that aired from 2003 to 2007 and featured the couple working various jobs and living with workers in remote or rural areas across the country. The “ducks out of water” appeal, Hilton’s “that’s hot” personality and Richie’s dry humor made the show a hit.

Now, all these years later, it seems the ladies are getting back together for a reboot or a reunion of sorts. Although the reboot hasn’t been officially confirmed, Hilton posted an Instagram video in May in collaboration with Peacock, captioned, “New era. Same besties. Coming soon to Peacock.”

According to Bustle, “Richie remained tight-lipped about the project” in an interview with the outlet, “confirming only that it would celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary.” However, on Good Morning America, Richie confirmed that “it’s not a complete reboot,” according to Jake Viswanath of Bustle.

When asked by TODAY, a Sonic representative provided the following statement via email: “While we cannot comment on the names or employment histories of our crew members, we can share that some of our most well-known former car hoppers were rehired yesterday for a shift at our drive-in in Duarte, California. We cannot confirm names, but we can confirm that both the crew members and guests had a great time.”

According to PEOPLE’s Kirsty Hatcher, Hilton said on Instagram last month, “Hey guys, just got home from filming with Nicole… as some of you may know, we are doing a reunion special to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our show ‘The Simple Life.'” She added, “So basically Nicole and I are planning something iconic.”
