Commanders

Commander OC Cliff Kingsbury is very excited about what he has seen from running backs so far Austin Ekeler And Brian Robinsonand noted that Ekeler has not slowed down since moving from the Chargers.

“I watch him (Ekeler) and I think, ‘This guy is unbelievable.’ I’m not sure what it was last year, but he hasn’t forgotten anything.” Kingsbury said via CommandersWire.com. “He’s as fast and strong as I’ve ever seen him. I’m just really pleased. I didn’t study him much when I became a free agent. I didn’t think he was going to be there and he came late and when we got him I thought, ‘It’s unbelievable that we got this guy and he’s in this shape.’ The compliment of him (Ekeler) and B-Rob is great. You have a power back with great hands and then you have a quick, smaller guy who made 100 catches in the NFL. So I couldn’t be happier with this one-two punch and the different things we can do with those two guys.”

Kingsbury also likes what he sees from the third round of overtime Brandon Coleman from TCU.

“Everything we asked Brandon to do, he did and tried to Kingsbury said of Coleman. “Young beginners are often used to a certain technique that may not work at this level, and so you have to adapt it. And he tried to do it exactly the way we taught him, and he’s a great athlete and works his ass off. So we’re happy with his progress. He also has a good team that’s committed to him and has really helped him get through this first training camp.”

Eagle LB Devin White said the one-year, $4 million deal he signed with Philadelphia was not his best offer as a free agent, adding that he was more interested in moving to a playoff contender to get his career back on track.

I took less because I felt that the situation was better,” White said, according to the Tampa Bay Times: “That shows that it’s not about the money. It was never about the money. It’s about being in the right situation, in the right environment. And being able to have fun.”

White added that someone in the Buccaneers organization pressured him to continue playing last season despite a painful foot injury, even at a time when he felt he could no longer play.

“Then things really went downhill,” White mentioned his situation in Tampa. “Things were already going downhill when I asked for the trade. … At first everyone liked me, but when I asked for the trade and tried to do what was best for me, it turned everyone against me. Not everyone, but some people in higher positions.”

  • eagle Direct current Vic Fangio on CB Quinyon Mitchell to concentrate on one position instead of outside and slot play: “That would be ideal. It might not be practical. Maybe we have to let him play nickel.” (Jeff McLane)
