The next Fortnite Battle Pass will be different from the previous ones. For the first time, Epic Games will not make the Season Pass exclusive. This decision has sparked a lot of controversy, although many players have also praised it. Interestingly, many Fortnite players believe that the next Battle Pass will be free due to the lack of exclusivity.

Despite the big Battle Pass change, Epic won’t be changing the price. In fact, the game developer confirmed this with the latest blog post. If you’re curious about the price of the next Battle Pass, here’s everything you need to know.

Will Epic Games release the next Fortnite Battle Pass for free?

On Wednesday afternoon, Epic announced big news about future Battle Passes. Starting next season, these passes will no longer be exclusive. This means that the cosmetic items they contain will be available in the Item Shop in the future. All in all, this was probably the best decision the Fortnite developer could have made.

The company has revealed many more details about this change, from alternate styles to price. It turns out that the next Fortnite Battle Pass will not be free, as this is just a rumor that has been doing the rounds for 24 hours. Epic Games confirmed that the season pass will cost 950 V-Bucks, which has always been the case.

The Battle Pass will remain priced at 950 V-Bucks, with the ability to earn 1,500 V-Bucks back by leveling up. The giftable Battle Pass will remain priced at $8.49 (or regional equivalent).

While it’s understandable that many players are upset about Epic’s decision to make the Battle Pass non-exclusive, the truth is that it’s still worth the money. Considering that basic skins cost 800 V-Bucks in the Item Shop, paying 950 V-Bucks for at least seven skins is a great deal. Additionally, it’s also possible to earn free V-Bucks by leveling up.

Is the Fortnite Battle Pass useless?

The Battle Pass is far from useless, even though it’s no longer exclusive. Players who enjoy unlocking cosmetics will still get their money’s worth and will have plenty of reasons to purchase the next pass. Additionally, even those who don’t like the cosmetics should consider purchasing the pass, as it allows them to earn 550 V-Bucks.

Here are some of the top reasons to buy the Battle Pass next season:

  • Early access to skins and cosmetics
    • Items released with the next Battle Pass will be available in the Item Shop starting in February 2026 or later.
  • Access to exclusive cosmetics
    • Epic clarified that some cosmetics will continue to be exclusive, meaning they will not come to the shop
  • Free V-Bucks
    • If you pay 950 V-Bucks, you can earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks simply by leveling up
  • Great offer
    • Once Battle Pass items hit the store, they will likely cost at least 30,000 V-Bucks in total
  • Access to alternative styles
    • Alternative styles are sold separately in the shop, which is not the case with the Battle Pass

While Epic’s decision to change the exclusivity of the Battle Pass could impact revenue, there’s no doubt that the company will make more money in the long run. Additionally, new players will gain access to Battle Pass cosmetics since they’re no longer trapped behind the pass.

The next Fortnite Battle Pass won’t be free, but it’s still a good idea to buy it. The new Season Pass will be released on August 15th at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, but won’t be available immediately due to server outages. The pass will once again include over a hundred rewards, including numerous skins, emotes, gliders, and other cosmetic items.
