Kelly Bensimon is back on the dating scene less than two months after calling off her wedding.
The 56-year-old former Real Housewives of New York City star was due to marry financial advisor Scott Litner on June 29, but called off the wedding with just four days’ notice after Scott refused to sign a prenuptial agreement – and now she has revealed she’s looking for love again.
Kelly told the New York Post’s PageSix column, “I’m not in a relationship. I’m … happy to explore new possibilities … (I) enjoy dating.”
She added: “I’m enjoying it. I’m not chasing. I can’t wait for my next chapter. I’m not in a committed relationship.”
The reality TV star initially stated that she decided against marriage for the sake of her two daughters – Sea, 26, and Teddy, 24 – but later revealed that she came to the decision after Scott refused to sign a prenuptial agreement.
After canceling her big day, she told PEOPLE, “Ultimately, my decision is nobody’s business, but I understand there is speculation and rumors, and I want to put an end to all of that. To be clear: He refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, and I refused to marry him. Period.”
A statement provided to the outlet continued: “She was looking forward to an exciting new chapter in her life together with Scott when it all became clear to her late Tuesday afternoon… (He) refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, effectively delaying their engagement just days before the wedding.”
In the statement, Kelly said, among other things: “He thought I was entering into this relationship without legal protection and leaving everything to faith.
“But I have worked really, really hard as a single mother and have always made smart decisions for myself and my family, and I will continue to do so.”
Scott proposed to Kelly on the Fourth of July weekend, 2023, during a holiday in Wisconsin, and they planned to marry in two ceremonies, one to be held at Scott’s mother’s house in Boston, the second in the Hamptons.
Kelly was married to fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, the father of her two daughters, from 1997 to 2006.
