Overstock tops the list of 25 NRF hot retailers

Overstock is the fastest-growing retailer in the United States and tops the National Retail Federation’s list of the 25 largest retailers for 2024.

The list, compiled by Kantar, a marketing data, insights and advisory company, highlights the fastest-growing retailers, with rankings determined by each company’s annual increase in domestic sales from 2022 to 2023, according to a press release.

Second place went to Schwarz Group, which rose two places from fourth place last year. The other three are Fast Retailing, Irish multinational fast-fashion retailer Primark Stores and Aldi.

“This year’s Hot 25 list is packed with a wide range of retailers that have experienced significant growth,” said David Marcotte, senior vice president at Kantar, in the press release. “We see many new additions to the list, but also returning retailers that have successfully responded to consumer needs and wants.”

Lululemon jumped from 24th to 6th last year and HE Butt Grocery jumped from 25th to 13th with 12.7% sales growth last year.

“This year, we are seeing a resurgence in retailers that had declined slightly in previous years but have now steadily gained ground with new customer bases,” said Mark Mathews, head of research at NRF, in the press release. “Sales figures indicate a steady increase for these top 25 retailers, in part due to their successful adaptation to customer needs, which has resulted in positive growth.”

New additions to the list this year include: Abercrombie & Fitch (No. 7), Five Below (No. 8), Ollie’s Bargain Outlet (No. 10), Chevron Texaco (No. 11), Daiso Sangyo (No. 14), Burlington (No. 16), Cencosud (No. 18), Inditex (No. 21) and Defense Commissary Agency (No. 25).
