“My phone started beeping and saying ‘low heart rate,’ which I had never seen before. So I looked at it… my heart rate had dropped to 32. And it was insisting in its notifications that something was wrong,” Moore added.
Moore immediately stopped and called his wife, who told him to stay calm and drove him to the nearest hospital where he was further examined.
After the examination, the doctors told Moore that the situation was not good and that he now needed a pacemaker. Moore underwent a pacemaker implantation in time and is now recovering well. He reported that he has been feeling much better since the procedure.
Omid Yousefian, the cardiac electrophysiologist at Sansum Clinic Cardiology who treated Moore, said the Apple Watch “played a huge role in saving his life.”
“Moore was alerted by his watch that his heart rate was slow, and he associated that warning with the symptoms he was experiencing,” Yousefian explained. “He didn’t wait or hesitate – he went straight to the hospital, which was a very smart decision.”
