This week’s best new songs: The Smile, Pharmakon, Half Waif and more

Throughout the week, we update our Best New Songs playlist with the new releases that most caught our attention, whether it’s a single precedenting an album release or a newly revealed deep cut. And every Monday, we round up the best new songs that came out in the past week in this Best New Music segment (the entry period begins Monday and ends Sunday night).

On this week’s list we have The Smile’s spacious, hypnotic new single “Don’t Get Me Started”; “Here’s the Thing,” another edgy, captivating single from Fontaines DC’s upcoming album; Pharmarkon’s pulsating, unsettling new track “WITHER AND WARP,” which leads the New York noise musician’s first new album in five years; “FREEDOM,” the throaty new song from Regional Justice Center, the powerviolence band fronted by Ian Shelton of Militarie Gun; little bit’s cathartic new single “Out to Dry”; Adrianne Lenker’s beautiful, country-tinged “Once a Bunch”; beabadoobee’s “Beaches,” the catchy, confident final single from her latest LP; and “Figure” from Half Waif, the gently moving first single from Nandi Rose’s sixth album under that name.
