Sod Poodles lose Game 6 and split the series against the Naturals

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Amarillo falls to Northwest Arkansas 4-6 in the final game of the series.

Joe Elbis starts for the Soddies, his second appearance in this series.

Naturals first baseman John Lester strikes fast and early for Northwest Arkansas, hitting a two-run bomb to right field to take the lead in the second inning.

Amarillo responded well with three unanswered runs, capped by a sacrifice fly by Caleb Roberts that scored Jancarlos Cintron, and Amarillo took the lead for the first time tonight.

Northwest Arkansas regained the lead in the fifth inning when Deigo Hernandez got on base on Andy Weber’s fielder’s choice. Peyton Wilson crossed home plate for the second time tonight to take a 5-3 lead.

The Naturals score another run in the sixth inning, with Amarillo having some catching up to do. Neyfy Castillo gets one to left center field, a solo hit, his fourth of the year, but that’s all the Soddies had left in them.

Each team takes turns winning each game.

The Soddies will play their next six games on the road at Nelson Wolff against the San Antonio Missions before returning home to host the Corpus Christi Hooks on August 20.
