We’re celebrating the sixth anniversary of A-Week with a campus-wide search for the Gold Cardinal! Somewhere on the University of Arkansas campus, we’ve hidden a three-inch, two-pound metal gold cardinal.

During A-Week (12-16 August) a new notice will be published in the Arkansas Newswhich brings you one step closer to finding the Golden Cardinal’s hiding place. There are five clues in total and you have until Monday, August 19th to find the Golden Cardinal and claim the prize.

Speaking of prizes, the person who finds the Golden Cardinal gets to keep the Golden Cardinal and wins $100 in Dining Dollars, $150 in Razorback merchandise from the Campus Bookstore, a football signed by Razorback football coach Sam Pittman, and a flat screen TV!

Before you start, here are the rules:

• Participation in the Golden Cardinal Search is limited to first-year students at the University of Arkansas. Non-first-year students, faculty, and staff are not eligible to participate.

• The Gold Cardinal will be hidden on the University of Arkansas grounds and will not move. All five clues point to a single location where the Gold Cardinal is located.

• The contestant who finds the Golden Cardinal by August 19 at 5:00 p.m. and returns it to the Office of Transition Programs and Initiatives at Arkansas Union 213 is the potential prize winner.

• Neither to find clues nor to find the hiding place, it is necessary to enter private property.

• A new notice is published in Arkansas News and on the A-Week website, beginning on Monday, August 12, and ending with the last clue on Friday, August 16, unless the Cardinal is found beforehand.

• Clues are posted every day at 9 a.m. or so on aweek.uark.edu.

• The competition ends on August 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

• The Cardinal must be returned to the Office of Transition Programs & Initiatives, ARKU 213, by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, or the prize will be forfeited.

• The competition ends when the cardinal is found.

• The competition status will be updated daily on the A-Week website. Arkansas News and NSFP social media (Facebook.com/uarknsfp and Instagram – @uarknsfp) through Friday, August 16.

• The person returning the Cardinal must present a valid UARK ID and proof of enrollment for Fall 2024.

• Participants who engage in unsportsmanlike, disruptive or offensive conduct will be disqualified at the discretion of the Office of Transition Programs & Initiatives.

• Anyone damaging, destroying or trespassing on public or private property will be disqualified from the competition. Participants must respect building hours and follow all local laws, ordinances and university policies.
