Austin, August 12: CrowdStrike, the American cybersecurity company responsible for the Microsoft outage, has reportedly picked up an award for “biggest failure” at the Pwnie Awards. The global IT outage was caused by an update to CrowdStrike’s Falcon Sensor. It caused global disruptions in the Windows operating system and triggered a “blue screen of death” (BSOD) error on several computers, wiping the system’s data.

The Microsoft outage caused by the CrowdStrike update also led to financial losses for the company on the stock market and falling share prices. A US-based cybersecurity company admitted the bug in the update that caused the global IT meltdown. Microsoft is discontinuing the Paint 3D application because it had difficulty building a user base. Michael Sentonas reiterated that the company’s goal is to protect people and said that the company made a mistake.
