Science fiction is a bold and beautiful canvas of storytelling that captures the imagination of millions. Be it huge multimedia franchises like star Wars or little-known short stories, science fiction works wonders.

Every science fiction fan should plan a visit to the Science Gallery at the University of Melbourne. SCI-FI: Mythologies in Transition. This exhibition is a study of the genre and includes a range of works that trace its possible origins in Asian philosophy and spirituality. As the exhibition’s Australian debut, it will also incorporate First Nations perspective and knowledge.

As science fiction reaches ever more diverse areas, SCI-FI: Mythologies in Transition draws on the creativity of women and alternative voices.

All this and more can be found in contemporary artworks, historical artefacts, books and films from East and West. The exhibition has been developed in collaboration between the ArtScience Museum and the Science Gallery at the University of Melbourne.
