JK Rowling has said that she is probably the only one to pronounce the name of the greatest evildoer, Voldemort, as she originally intended.

The author commented on a fan’s tweet on Twitter yesterday.

– Terry Gilliam “is not dead”
– Amazing behind the scenes footage
– Plot of Transformers 5 revealed

American “Christian, author, reader and nature lover” Michael Lucero wrote: “A Harry Potter trivia I always forget to mention: According to @jk_rowling, the “t” in Voldemort is silent.”

Rowling took note of the remarkand that is actually the case.

“…but I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who says it that way,” she replied.

So it seems that the name of “He Who Must Not Be Named” has more of a French touch.

However, we note that the filmmakers did not necessarily adhere to such pronunciation guidelines.

When Rowling received the Legion of Honour from President Francois Sarkozy in 2009, she apologized for the name, which means “flight of death” in French.

“I would like to thank my French readers for not taking offense at my choice of a French name for my evil character,” she said.

“I can assure you that there was no anti-French feeling behind this choice. As a Francophile, I have always been proud of my French blood. But I needed a name that exudes both power and exoticism.

“Voldemort himself is one hundred percent English.”

This is not the first time that readers of the books have discovered that they have mispronounced a name – see also Hermione, whose correct pronunciation some only learned after watching the films.

The post follows a possible hint from Rowling that Hufflepuff House could play a major role in the upcoming film “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

The author posted a link to a Pottermore Tweetand added: “It feels like the beginning of the Age of Hufflepuff.”

The link led to a graphic celebrating “Famous Hufflepuffs Through the Ages,” which includes Newt Scamander, the star of Fantastic Beasts.
