Tom Cruise makes a spectacular jump from the roof of the Stade de France during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris

Tom Cruise made an epic entrance at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Sunday by jumping from the roof of the Stade de France.

Cruise, who is in Europe filming “Mission: Impossible 8,” jumped from France’s largest stadium onto the center stage, where he was greeted by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. She presented Cruise with the Olympic flag, after which he hopped on a motorcycle and rode out of the stadium with the flag in tow. His elaborate exit was a symbol of Paris passing the torch to Los Angeles as host of the 2028 Summer Olympics.

A pre-recorded video also showed Cruise driving through the streets of Paris before boarding a helicopter, parachuting and landing at the famous Hollywood sign. As Cruise performed his stunts, “By the Way” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers played in the background.

USA finishes 2024 Summer Olympics with most medals

Cruise, 62, was often seen at the Olympics, most notably during the U.S. women’s national soccer team’s 1-0 victory over Brazil in the gold medal game on Saturday.

The US flag bearers at the closing ceremony were swimmer Katie Ledekcy and rower Nick Mead.

“Sharing this privilege with Katie makes it all the more special,” Mead said in a statement via People“My experience at the Paris Games was the dream of a lifetime and I am filled with immense pride, gratitude and joy. I would also like to thank the city of Paris and the entire country of France for hosting incredible Games. I will cherish these memories forever.”

Ledecky added: “I am so proud of this team’s achievements in Paris and I look forward to celebrating with my teammates on Sunday.”

The United States finished the Summer Olympics with 126 medals, the most of any country. The Americans won 40 gold medals, tying them with China for the most medals among nations.
