Zion y Lennox hires Maria Becerra for the epic Latin dance track “Berlin”

Zion y Lennox hires Maria Becerra for the epic Latin dance track “Berlin”

Imagine: It’s a summer night and you’re out dancing with friends. You walk into the club and the DJ is playing “Berlin”. Everything is right in the world.

On Thursday, PEOPLE exclusively presents the music video for the new collaboration between Puerto Rican duo Zion y Lennox and Argentinian Maria Becerra, entitled “Berlin.”

“Creating new music was really exciting for us and we love ‘Berlin,'” the duo tells PEOPLE. “We knew straight away that we wanted Maria to be on the song and we’re glad she agreed! A few months later we went to Argentina to record the song and it was a fantastic experience, there is so much incredible talent there and the video turned out incredible.”

The video, directed by Julián Levy, begins with Zion (real name Félix Ortiz, 40) entering a nightclub set up like a maze with flashing lights. At this point, 22-year-old Becerra mysteriously makes her way through the club alone before Lennox (real name Gabriel Pizarro, 41) makes a gentle entrance for his verse.

The singers of “Otra Vez” added their typical style to the track, which is about searching in big cities like Los Angeles, New York, Berlin and Madrid in the hope of finding a woman after a night together.

Becerra, on the other hand, responds with her seductive vocals, singing that what they have is over. So they could keep searching – but if they meet someone along the way, they’ll pretend it didn’t happen. Ouch.

“Berlin” follows the duo’s April release “Brisa,” a Caribbean-inspired collaboration with Danny Ocean.

“This is our first release in a year and we wanted to kick off this new phase of our career with a summer hit that everyone can enjoy. Danny Ocean was the perfect collaborator for this track and we want this party song to bring people together,” Zion y Lennox said in a press release at the time.

The singers of “Yo Voy” are also fresh from the stage in Maluma Land, where they presented a series of throwbacks and new songs last weekend at the AYU Dayclub in Las Vegas.

After their performance, the duo spoke to PEOPLE about the music festival experience.

“It’s been incredible,” Zion said. “We really like the connection with the public – that’s something that’s really important. The whole world doesn’t have the capacity to connect with the public. We’ve been successful for 20 years and we’ve known each other for a very long time.”

He continued: “In one way or another, Zion and Lennox are always there. Not everyone has the ability to do that from generation to generation – to get that respect from the next generation and to be seen by them as a role model and as someone they want to work with.”

Meanwhile, the duo also spoke openly about leaving their comfort zone and experimenting with new sounds.

“We don’t want to compete with anyone. We have a direction, a respect in music that is very, very safe. So what do we do now? We take risks,” said Zion. “We try new rhythms and new things. Why? So that it gives us more individuality and a longer career, because we can’t always just sing reggaeton with the whole world.”

Lennox added: “We’ve recorded a lot of new stuff, so get ready.”

“Berlin” is available now.
