19-year-old Brewers shortstop named 2024’s top prospect

19-year-old Brewers shortstop named 2024’s top prospect

The Milwaukee Brewers organization is brimming with young talent.

Players like Jackson Chourio and Tobias Myers are performing well above the expectations of their age, and now Milwaukee can add another of its rising stars to that list.

Brewers’ 19-year-old shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt was named Milwaukee’s top prospect for the 2024 season by Bleacher Report on Saturday.

“Pratt, another member of the 2023 high school shortstop class, has quickly made it into the league’s top 100 lists,” said Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report.

“The 6-foot-4, 195-pound infielder may eventually convert to a shortstop, but his offensive game has the potential to play elsewhere. He was a 2024 Futures Game participant and has a .287/398 batting average with 21 extra-base hits and 26 steals in 82 games between Single-A and High-A.”

Pratt was selected by the Brewers at number 182 in the 2023 draft. As a high school talent, he was named Mississippi Gatorade State Player of the Year and planned to attend Ole Miss before being drafted by Milwaukee.

Due to his physical condition and potential as a five-tool player, Pratt is compared to Gunnar Henderson.

With the Brewers holding an eight-game lead in the National League Central through Sunday in a successful season, Pratt’s rise is an example of the rich getting richer.
