Steven Kwan offers a unique perspective as the Cleveland Guardians end their seven-game losing streak

The Cleveland Guardian have endured a difficult stretch since the All-Star break, culminating in the last week when they lost a season-high seven straight games while struggling on offense.

That streak finally ended on Saturday night when the Guardians defeated their division rivals, the Minnesota Twins, 2-1.

Steven Kwan played a key role in that win, hitting a solo home run on the second pitch of the game and showing incredible defense in left field.

Kwan didn’t hesitate to speak about Cleveland’s losing streak, but he also offered a unique perspective on it. The outfielder is aware that it hasn’t been the team’s best stretch, but also points that out.

“It’s just ‘win today.’ Before that, we had a five-game winning streak and then we had this, whatever that was. I mean, you can’t let the short sample size stop you, right? You have to try to win every day. Like I said, it’s 162 for a reason. You just have to take it day by day and we have a plan to stick to it, so we’ll be in a good position,” Kwan said after the game.

Kwan has a good point here. Just a week ago, the Guardians won a road series against the Philadelphia Phillies and split four games with the Baltimore Orioles. Even though they’ve struggled recently, they’ve still found ways to beat some really good teams; we can’t forget that.

Unfortunately, Cleveland’s difficult period coincided with the Twins’ winning streak, which narrowed their division lead.

The Guardians have proven this season that they can beat good teams and as long as they maintain the mentality that Kwan showed on Saturday, they will be in a good position.
