Bruce Bochy delivers heartfelt message as Giants reunite in World Series

Former San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy would like to share a few words with the members of the 2014 World Series team. Bochy recorded a message delivered to the members of the 2014 club on the occasion of their 10-year World Series reunion. Bochy managed the Giants this season.

“When I think about that group, I think about the selflessness with which they played,” Bochy said in the video, according to NBC Sports. “They didn’t care if it went their way. They just wanted to find a way to get it done.”

Bochy was unable to attend the 10-year reunion, so he sent in the recorded remarks. The Giants celebrated the 10th anniversary of their 2014 championship over the weekend. That team defeated the Kansas City Royals in seven games to claim the World Series championship.

“We have shown how resilient we can be,” Bochy added.

Bochy was the Giants’ coach from 2007 to 2019. He won three World Series championships in the Bay. His 2014 title was the last of the three championships he won with the Giants.

Giants fans could be heard cheering when Bochy’s video was shown at the World Series reunion. Fans no doubt miss the excitement the 2014 team brought them. This season, San Francisco has a 61-58 record and will likely miss the postseason.

Bochy left the Giants after the 2019 season. A few years later, he decided to join the Texas Rangers as manager. He persisted and won another World Series with Texas in 2023. The manager recently moved into the White House with his Texas team, which won the championship last season.

“I’ve talked about how winning the World Series is a gift that keeps on giving. You get a tour of the White House,” Bochy said, according to Sports Illustrated. “It’s a beautiful place. It’s a historic moment for the club. Only one team can do that.”

Bochy is currently back in charge of the Rangers. He and Texas have a 55-62 record this season, which is certainly disappointing by the manager’s standards. Texas has had trouble keeping its pitchers healthy this season, and that has been one reason for the team’s struggles. The Rangers face the New York Yankees on Sunday.

Bochy also managed the San Diego Padres from 1995 to 2006. He was named NL Manager of the Year in 1996. Bochy is without question one of the best managers working in MLB today. He will likely one day be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
