Deshaun Watson trains against the Vikings, but will not play in the second preseason game

Upcoming joint training sessions with the Vikings

The Browns will host the Vikings for two joint practices on August 14 and 15 before hosting Minnesota for their second preseason game at Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 17.

Stefanski is placing a strong emphasis on joint workouts in preparation for the 2024 regular season. This will be the fourth year the Brows have scheduled joint workouts, beginning in the second week of the preseason. In the three previous seasons, they hosted the Eagles, traveled to Philadelphia and hosted the Giants.

“It’s an important part of training camp and I discussed this with our players last night,” Stefanski said. “We’re in the middle of training camp and this week is going to be tough. It’s going to be physical, it’s going to take a toll on you mentally and physically and things like that. It’s going to allow us to compete against a different scheme because what they’re doing offensively and defensively is really different than what we’re doing.”

One of the biggest differences between the joint training sessions and other training camps is that the first team players do the majority of their training against the Vikings.

“So it’s going to be our core players against their core players,” Stefanski explained. “In these practices, you’re not going to be practicing your threes as much because they have to do their work there in the game. So you’re going to see a lot of your core players out there. Again, it’s about getting them mentally and physically ready for the season.”
