Two Gamecocks players named in Bruce Feldman’s 2024 “Freaks List”

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic recently unveiled his 2024 “Freaks List,” which profiles the 101 most athletically gifted players in college football. Two of the players are Nyck Harbor and Nick Emmanwori of South Carolina.

Emmanwori was ranked 11th on the list. The junior defensive back is 6’3″ and weighs 220 pounds. He has impressive athletic ability for his size: he jumps 7’10”, has a vertical leap of 42″ and has been measured at speeds of up to 23 mph. In addition to his explosive power, Emmanwori is one of the strongest defensive backs in college. He can lift 550 pounds and do 24 reps of 220 pounds.

Harbor landed at number one on the list, making him the first player to be ranked number one in consecutive years since the list was introduced in 2005. The sophomore receiver has all the traits that have wowed Gamecock fans since he arrived on campus. At 6’5″ and 230 pounds, Harbor was named a second-team All-American in track and field as a sprinter. In his first outdoor season, he ran the 100m in 10.11 seconds and the 200m in 20.20 seconds.

While this may not necessarily translate into success on the field, the addition of Emmanwori and Harbor to the roster should give Gamecock fans something to look forward to the season.
