Coronation Street star Ruxandra Porojnicu has opened up about her love life, describing herself as a “hopeless romantic.”
Porojnicu played Alina Pop in the soap, but left in 2021 when Alina’s romance with Tyrone Dobbs ended in heartbreak. In the final episodes, Alina returned to the cobbles with her secret son Dorin and tried to avoid Tyrone.
Speaking to The Sun, the actress revealed that her character is not the only one who has relationship problems.

“I believe in fairy tales, I think that’s why I’m still single,” she explained. “Men do DM me, but I’m more of a romantic person and would like to meet someone in real life when I’m out and about or in a cafe.”
“I have been single for the past few years. I am a hopeless romantic and hope to find true love one day,” she added.
Porojnicu took matters into her own hands, saying she “tried the dating apps once” but then concluded they were “not really my thing.”
“A pretty picture doesn’t really say much. You have to see the person’s personality, their way of thinking and their attitude. It’s the whole package, not just the perfect looks.”

Social life has proven difficult for Porojnicu. She describes herself as a “very career-oriented person.” However, she is not picky about the profession of her potential partner.
“I like it better when it happens naturally. You go to a cafe and see a guy, he sees you and then it just happens.”
“They can come from any industry as long as they are nice, we build a good connection and he is a wonderful person inside and out,” she said.
