Obituary for Linda Kelly Butts | August 10, 2024

Linda Kelly Butts, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, died on August 10, 2024 in Valley, Alabama. She was born on November 12, 1948, in the same city where she spent most of her life.

Linda is survived by her loving mother, Mary Kenady, her two sons, Chad (Robin) Butts and Randall (Mandy) Butts, her beloved grandchildren, Ryleigh Butts, Caitlyn (Andrew) Anthony and Jaci (Jesse) Lee, and her great-grandchildren, Emma, Leigha and Asher Anthony, and Charlotte and her soon-to-be-born baby, Lee. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Butts, and her father, John A. Kenady.

Throughout her life, Linda has found joy in simple things like cheering on her Auburn Tigers or spending time at the beach with family. Sunday dinners were always a special occasion for Linda as they brought her family together at home.

Her faith played an important role in Linda’s life as she was an active member of Langdale Methodist Church throughout her life. Her involvement included attending dinner church, sweet prayer hour, card game groups, missionary-minded moms, Mayan Sunday school classes, and retiree group meetings.

A 1967 graduate of Valley High School, Linda will be remembered for her delicious buttermilk pies and pumpkin casserole, which will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

As we mourn this loss, we can take comfort in knowing that Linda’s journey is over, but she still leaves behind beautiful memories that will live on in our hearts forever.

Linda’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) at the Langdale Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Gardens.
