Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has unveiled a focused plan to lead his team to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). After a mixed start to the 2023-25 ​​WTC season, Masood has emphasised intent and positivity in all aspects of the game.

Pakistan started their WTC campaign with a strong performance by winning a two-Test series against Sri Lanka. However, they faced challenges in Australia where they failed to win a single match in a three-Test series.

This currently puts them at 5th place in the WTC rankings, so it is crucial for the team to win in the upcoming matches.

What is Pakistan’s plan to win the World Test Championship?

Masood stressed that only by winning the remaining games would they have a chance of reaching the WTC final.

“If we want to participate in the World Test Championship, we need to win and to do that we need to show determination and positivity in every aspect of the game,” he said.

Pakistan has a busy schedule with matches against Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies. Masood pointed out that seven of the next nine Tests will be played on home soil, giving Pakistan an advantage.

“The positive thing is that we are playing at home and our players are familiar with the conditions. We need to take advantage of that but the key will be to deal with the mental and physical pressure,” concluded Masood.

With nine matches left in this WTC cycle, Shan Masood and his team will focus on a proactive approach to batting, throwing and fielding as Pakistan eye the final spot in the WTC to win the coveted Mace.
