New Holstein man injured, faces OWI


The New Holstein man was the only occupant of the vehicle and the sheriff’s office said alcohol was a suspected factor in the crash.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – A New Holstein man suffered possible serious injuries in a rollover crash on County G near Chestnut Road in Marshfield Township early Sunday morning.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report of an iPhone crash around 2:40 a.m. on August 11. Sheriff’s officials were dispatched to the scene along with the Saint Cloud Fire Department, Saint Cloud First Responders, Mount Calvary Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance (Intercept) and ThedaStar helicopter.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling north on County G near Chestnut Road when it left the roadway around a curve and struck a driveway embankment and a concrete culvert, causing the vehicle to roll down a steep embankment, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from New Holstein, was the only occupant of the vehicle and was flown by helicopter from the scene to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah. He was wearing a seat belt.

According to the sheriff’s office, alcohol is suspected to be the cause of the accident and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation is ongoing; further details were not released on Sunday.
