Stephen Curry doubles Steve Kerr’s praise for Devin Booker

Stephen Curry doubles Steve Kerr’s praise for Devin Booker

Stephen Curry has received a lot of praise for his strong play with the U.S. team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and considering what he accomplished in the last two games against Serbia and France, it’s not hard to see why. However, there were many unnoticed contributors for the U.S. team during the games, including Phoenix Suns star guard Devin Booker.

Booker’s role was constantly in flux throughout the U.S. team’s run, but he always seemed to find a way to perform, something head coach Steve Kerr noticed after they won their gold medal. It turns out Kerr isn’t the only one who feels that way, as Curry reposted Kerr’s message on his Instagram story with a quick note of his own praising Booker.

While Curry’s heroics at the end of Saturday’s game against France drew most of the attention away from the gold medal match, it was Booker who largely carried Team USA early in the game. Booker scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half to keep France at bay, ultimately setting the stage for Curry’s takeover.

When you have a whole bunch of superstars at your disposal like Team USA does, it leads to a lot of guys taking on different roles than they normally do on their teams in the NBA. While a lot of guys made waves during games, Booker stayed under the radar, largely because he adapted to every situation he found himself in.

Curry and Kerr ensure that his contributions do not go unnoticed despite all the other notable stories that have come out of the Games. Booker may not have put up the greatest numbers, but without his contributions on both ends of the court, Team USA may not have been able to win gold like everyone expected.

Instead, Team USA did what was expected of them, and while guys like Curry and LeBron James get most of the credit for that, it was undoubtedly a team effort. Booker’s supportive play for Team USA was great, and it’s great to see Curry and Kerr giving him the credit he deserves after he put in some strong performances during their run.
