Woomy Worlds Triumph Torch – The Brothers Brick

Woomy Worlds Triumph Torch – The Brothers Brick

The Bio Cup is an annual LEGO fan competition for builders using Bionicle and building blocks. It often focuses on organic shapes and striking characters, with an emphasis on the artistic interpretation of a theme. After a three-month MOC marathon, the winner of the 2024 Bio Cup was crowned: Woomy World! The theme of the last round was, fittingly, “final boss.” Woomy’s answer is an epic, JRPG-inflected manifestation of creative burnout, a villain many creatives know all too well. The bottom half of the model, representing the “Soul of the Void,” features a beautifully sculpted face in gray, reminiscent of a stone moai. Above that, “pure frustration” erupts from the head as an avatar of agony in all black. A behind-the-scenes look reveals more about how the dynamic statue was sculpted (including an old boat weight used for balance).

Burnout Incarnation: Final Phase

We’ve already featured Woomy World’s adorable owl from Round 3 of this year’s competition, and the other builds that contributed to the win are equally impressive.

Woomy’s entry for Round 1 (theme: space) imagines an alien Musamaw, a creature that is both terrifying and lovable. The shape and colors around the mouth are particularly impressive.

In Round 2 (Theme: Electrical Power), Woomy transforms menacing electrical cables into a snapping hydra. The build is a triumph of finding LEGO elements that express both form and function, resulting in a techno-mythic model that seems to have come into life fully formed, like Athena from the head of Zeus.

Woomy’s penultimate entry from Round 4 (Carnivore theme) features the Vermillion Beast, a prehistoric monster with teeth and fins, rendered in gorgeous colors. As with the entry from Round 1, Woomy shows how the right scenery can really enhance a character build.

Woomy World’s Bio Cup win cements the builder’s status as one of the most exciting creators working with LEGO today. Just browse our Woomy archive to see why. Using pieces without limits, he is a true master of color and shape, merging with imagination and whimsy. Congratulations, Woomy, on this well-deserved achievement.
