Today, the last respects were paid to pioneering musician MC Conrad, who died at the age of 52; his fans described the star as a “true legend”.

The popular artist, whose real name was Conrad Thompson, died and left behind an “unprecedented legacy.”

He was considered one of the driving forces behind drum ‘n’ bass, was a famous singer and shared the stage with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Grandmaster Flash and Carl Cox.

Conrad’s agency, Clinic Talent, conducted the memorial service and said Tuesday that he died earlier this month.

In a moving statement they said: “As one of D&B’s best known and loved voices, he leaves behind an incomparable legacy.

“We will all miss Conrad dearly, as will all those who were touched by his performances over the years.

Musician DJ Zinc described Conrad – who was from the Midlands and is believed to have lived in Birmingham until his death – as a “legendary voice” and a “nice guy”.

London-based jungle and DNB pioneers 2 Bad Mice paid their own tribute, writing: “RIP to one of the originals and best of all MC Conrad.”

The star, who was a leading name in the industry for decades, was known for his electrifying stage presence. His cause of death has not yet been announced.
