Horrifying video shows the moments before a three-year-old girl is attacked by a wild horse

A video shows the horrific moments before a three-year-old was left “unresponsive” after a horse kicked him in the head.

The little girl, named Olivia, was filmed by her mother, Haley Wilkey, in a field when a seemingly calm wild horse came into view.

In fact, the clip was recorded just moments before the girl suffered a brutal head injury.

The American family was in a meadow in Nevada at the time and Haley can be heard asking her little daughter, “What’s going on?” as the three-year-old points to the horse.

Haley later told Fox 5 Vegas that she stopped filming as her son approached and had to slow him down to avoid scaring the horse.

But it seems that their attempts were not successful.

In the split second that she looked away, the horse gave her three-year-old a powerful kick to the head, leaving her lying on the ground “unresponsive.”

Although her older sister had not seen the horse kick her daughter, she had witnessed the traumatic injury.

“I immediately saw that her head was open,” Haley said. “I thought she had died because she was unresponsive.”

A stranger who happened to be passing by became her savior.

Hayley continued: “He had a first aid kit. He gave me some gauze and helped me put pressure on her head until the bleeding subsided a little.

“If we let the pressure off a little bit, it would just start flowing again.”

Since there was no reception to call emergency services, the little girl’s father had to drive 45 minutes down a mountain to call for help.

The mother added: “I think she held her head for almost 45 minutes while she waited for the ambulance.”

When help finally arrived, Olivia was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Las Vegas, where she underwent an intensive three-hour surgery to repair her skull.

She suffered a severe skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage as well as a brain contusion and a severe concussion.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by the Wilkeys, Olivia has been released from the hospital and is doing well at home.

Subsequent scans have shown that the attack did not cause any brain damage, and according to her family, she can sit upright and play as she used to.

They are eternally grateful to the stranger who saved their daughter’s life.

Austin, Olivia’s father, said: “I wish I had his phone number. I actually hugged him. I told him so much thanks, he saved my daughter.”
