First half highlights: Seahawks lead 13-3 against Chargers

The Seattle Seahawks may be only 10 points ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers, but they dominate the team. Seattle’s defense already seems to have improved significantly, completely stymieing the Chargers’ offense without quarterback Justin Herbert. Key backup Easton Stick had no answer, as the Chargers managed just three points, three first downs, and just 44 total yards.

Seattle struck first that night when quarterback Sam Howell found tight end Brady Russell for a 13-yard touchdown. On the third and fourth attempts, Russell stormed through several Chargers defenders and landed on the way to the goal.

The Seahawks had their second chance to score shortly thereafter when Stick’s first pass of the drive was deflected and fell into the waiting arms of Coby Bryant.

Four plays later, Seattle reached the end zone after a strong rush by running back George Holani and tried his best to earn the third-back position.

We also got our first glimpse of how dominant Byron Murphy II can be. The No. 16 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft was widely considered the best defensive tackle prospect available, and he showed why he was rated so highly.

Unfortunately, Los Angeles’ defense has started to put pressure on the Seahawks. Seattle’s offensive line has struggled and has allowed two sacks so far, including this one that pushed the Seahawks out of field goal range and gave them a chance to score more points and extend their lead.
