Scarlett Johansson will produce the new Jurassic World film

Scarlett Johansson is set to produce the new “Jurassic World” film.

The 39-year-old actress takes on the lead role in the latest film in the dinosaur series and has now agreed to take on responsibility behind the camera, just as Margot Robbie did in “Barbie.”

Along with director Gareth Edwards, Scarlett will have a significant influence on the creative process of the film, which is set to usher in a “new Jurassic era” with a brand new storyline.

A film industry insider told the Bizarre column of British newspaper The Sun: “Scarlett has been in talks with the studio for months and has made it clear that Gareth is her first choice as director.”

“He wanted a big fee but has now signed. Since he is her first choice, she is now much more interested in being part of the film and her role as an actress and producer is justified.”

Negotiations are also underway with “Bridgerton” star Jonathan Bailey about appearing in the film – which is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2025 – but a return of the character from the “Jurassic World” trilogy played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard does not seem to be an option.

Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are also unlikely to appear in the new film after the trio reprised their roles for the 2022 film “Jurassic World Dominion.”

Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer on the latest film after directing the first two films in the series in the 1990s.

The upcoming film is the seventh installment in the series, but filmmaker Colin Trevorrow said the sequels should never have been made after his film Jurassic World Dominion suffered negative reviews.

He told Empire magazine: “There probably should have been only one Jurassic Park – but if we do it, how can I enable them to tell stories in a world where there are dinosaurs, rather than asking, ‘Here’s another reason why we’re going to an island?'”
