When Harry Potter star Emma Watson described Tom Felton as her “soul mate” in the foreword to his new memoir

When Harry Potter star Emma Watson described Tom Felton as her “soul mate” in the foreword to his new memoir

Whenever someone mentions the name Harry Potter, we often think of the talented actress Emma Watson, don’t we? Did you know that in the foreword to her memoir, Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard, Watson wrote warm words about her friendship with Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton?

Watson and Felton met through their roles as Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy in the famous Harry Potter novel series written by the legendary JK Rowling. The book was released on August 6th and Watson took the opportunity to write some touching words for Felton.

“Do you know that person in your life who makes you feel seen?” Watson wrote in the book. “That person who is somehow a witness to everything that happens? That person who really knows what is happening to you and what you are going through without anything having to be said? For me, that person is Tom Felton.”

Although the two celebrities are now close friends, they were never close in the past. “When we first met, I was a dreamy and probably quite annoying nine-year-old girl, following him around like a puppy, desperate for his attention,” Watson said.

She emphasized that the overarching theme of the Harry Potter series is friendship and expressed her gratitude to Felton, who understood and encouraged her at a turning point in her life.

Watson also noted that their friendship has survived some difficult times in their lives. She further described him as someone who “has a heart as big as a planet” and mentioned that his real-life personality is very different from that of his character in the Harry Potter series.

Tom Felton’s character Draco Malfoy was a bully in the series, or at least was portrayed that way, but Watson stressed that he is far from one in real life. “He is creative, sensitive and genuine. He is a person who wants to love everything and everyone,” she added.

Watson and Felton, who starred in eight Harry Potter films between 2001 and 2011, have been linked for years. According to Business Insider, Felton has spoken about their mutual love and connection on several occasions and even in certain interviews, stating that it has always been platonic.

“Nothing has ever, ever, ever, ever happened romantically between us,” Watson said in January during the Harry Potter 20th anniversary special that aired on HBO Max. “We just love each other. That’s all I can say.”
