The gold medal game in men’s basketball at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris ended up being a Steph Curry show.
In his first Olympic final, the Golden State Warriors superstar led the US team over the finish line against France with some incredible long-range shots.
France cut the U.S. lead to 82-79 with 2:58 left in the fourth quarter before Curry responded with a barrage of 3-pointers over a period of more than two minutes.
The four-time NBA champion converted long-range shots on four of the next five U.S. possessions and capped his scoring with a long-range shot over two French defenders as the shot clock expired.
The “golden dagger,” as NBC commentator Noah Eagle called it, extended the Americans’ lead to nine points in the final 40 seconds. The USA finished the game with a score of 98-87, winning gold for the fifth time in a row.
Curry, who was fresh off a 36-point semifinal in which he made 9 of 14 three-point attempts, led Team USA with 24 points against France, hitting 8 of 13 three-pointers and adding five assists and two steals.
The US men have won gold at every Olympic Games since 2008 and now have a total of 17 championship titles.
