Is the Texas A&M football team getting a black uniform???

Is the Texas A&M football team getting a black uniform???

Texas A&M’s uniforms have been exceptionally simple over the past four seasons. Under Jimbo Fisher at the helm, there was only one uniform template and only two color combinations (maroon/maroon/white at home and maroon/white/white away). The craziest thing they did was wear maroon pants at home in the first game after Fisher’s firing last fall.

But with new personnel, changes are possible, and if this sighting at the sporting goods store is any indication, they could be coming soon.

The image above was spotted at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Rockwall, so it’s pretty far from official confirmation, but a few things to note:

  • This is an Adidas jersey that uses the same template/font as the actual game jerseys, which definitely proves its authenticity.
  • This would be far from the first time that uniform leaks have occurred because retailers were too quick to stock items.
  • Mike Elko himself hinted at the beginning of the offseason that A&M would expand its uniform selection:

If that black jersey turns out to be real, is it part of an all-black look reminiscent of 2012 or 2015? Or just a black jersey with the usual maroon and white helmet/pants? Only time will tell. But I can tell you that the possibility alone warms this uniform nerd’s heart.

UPDATE: A black jersey is also on the Texas Aggie Bookstore websitealthough this one appears to have a maroon SEC patch and maroon sleeve numbers.
