Thanks to these 3 spectacular moves, the Seahawks gained a convincing lead over the Chargers in the first half

The Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Chargers played a low-scoring first quarter in today’s preseason game at SoFi Stadium. The second quarter then saw an explosion of spectacular plays, all of which ultimately went in Seattle’s favor.

Thanks to solid defense from their starting lineup and some big plays from backup quarterback Sam Howell, third-year safety Coby Bryant and undrafted rookie running back George Holani, the Seahawks now lead the Chargers by two touchdowns. Here’s a quick look at some of the key plays from the first half of tonight’s game.

Sam Howell’s first Seahawks touchdown

The scoring began when Howell found tight end Brady Russell for his first touchdown in a Seattle jersey.

Russell has also participated in some games on special teams.

Coby Bryant intercepts deflected pass from Easton Stick

Just a few minutes later, two safeties combined to force a turnover. K’Von Wallace’s hit sent Easton Stick’s pass wide of the goal, which was then deflected and intercepted by Coby Bryant.

Wallace and Bryant will likely get the most snaps as safety this year, behind starters Julian Love and Rayshawn Jenkins.

George Holani jumps outside into the end zone

That allowed UDFA running back George Holani, one of the lesser-known rookies we picked to watch, to score on an 11-yard touchdown run.

Holani competes with Kenny McIntosh for the third spot in the running back rankings under Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

Seattle leads 13-0 with about five minutes left in the second quarter.
