Kelly Clarkson overwhelmed by Céline Dion’s comeback

Kelly Clarkson was moved to tears by Céline Dion’s performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

The 42-year-old pop star was overwhelmed with emotion as she celebrated her musical comeback with Celine at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Kelly, who co-anchored NBC’s coverage of the event, said: “I can’t really speak. A unique opening ceremony.”

Celine stopped performing live in December 2022 after being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a progressive neurological condition that affects her muscles.

And Kelly admitted she was thrilled by Celine’s performance of “L’Hymne à l’amour.”

The pop star explained: “I wasn’t prepared for this. If there’s anything you know about Celine right now, it’s that she feels like this is her destiny.”

Kelly was also impressed by Céline’s composure during the opening ceremony in the French capital.

She said: “I’m so sorry, I’m trying to pull myself together. But the fact that she got through that was incredible.”

“In my field, she is the gold medalist among vocal athletes.”

Earlier this year, Celine announced that she was looking forward to her long-awaited comeback.

The singer admitted at the time that she really wanted to perform live again.

Celine told the BBC: “I will be on stage. I don’t know exactly when, but believe me, I will be shouting it out loud.”

“I can barely wait for it.”

Celine will live with stiff person syndrome for the rest of her life. However, she underwent therapy with the aim of returning to the stage. Celine explained that her voice had been “rebuilt” over the past few years.

She said, “My voice is being restored. I mean, it started a while ago. My voice is being restored right now as we speak.”
