CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – A woman died Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in a deliberately set house fire in Charlotte on June 21. Police said on Friday.

According to reports, 82-year-old Lorna Joy Roth was found by firefighters at the scene and taken to a local hospital. She died nearly two months later.

The fire occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, along Sharon Road West near Sharonbrook Drive.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of a terraced house. A few minutes after firefighters arrived, a second alarm was raised to bring additional personnel to the scene.

The fire was brought under control within 51 minutes and caused significant damage to the building. CFD and CMPD later determined that the fire was intentionally set.
