8-year-old boy reported missing at campsite in Grand Canyon National Park

GRAND CANYON, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities are searching for a missing child in Grand Canyon National Park. He is the second child to be reported missing in northern Arizona within a matter of hours.

According to Grand Canyon National Park officials, 8-year-old Canyon Hartley was last seen around midnight Thursday at the Mather Campground in Site 151, Juniper Loop. The campground is located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Authorities say Hartley is 4’10”, weighs 60 pounds, and has strawberry blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and underwear, no shoes, and possibly carrying a stuffed condor toy.

Also reported missing on Wednesday was 8-year-old boy Tzion Maron after he left his family near Lava River Cave, a hiking area northwest of Flagstaff. Officials with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office are currently actively searching for Maron.
