61-year-old man arrested for drunk driving in Victorville hit-and-run, later released – VVNG.com

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A 61-year-old man was arrested Saturday night for drunk driving following a hit-and-run accident in Old Town Victorville.

It happened on August 10, 2024 at around 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Seventh Street.

A silver Honda Accord with a female driver was traveling north when a black 2008 Chrysler 300 turned left in front of her.

The Honda came to a stop at the veterans memorial. The driver was uninjured and the statue was not damaged.

Immediately after the accident, the driver of the Chrysler attempted to drive away from the scene, but was quickly stopped by an arriving patrol car.

The driver, identified as John Henry Lee Williamsa resident of Adelanto, was arrested and subsequently taken to the High Desert Detention Center.

He was charged with the following charges: VC23152(A) Driving under the influence of alcohol, VC23152(B) Driving under the influence of alcohol/0.08 percent, VC20002(A) Hit and run with property damage and VC12500(A) Driving without a license.

According to public arrest records, Williams has been released and is no longer in custody.

Victorville Police are investigating the collision.
