3 Players of the Game in the Browns’ season opener

3 Players of the Game in the Browns’ season opener

After starting the preseason with a 23-10 loss, head coach Kevin Stefanski said the Browns need to make some improvements throughout training camp to prepare for the 2024 regular season.

“It’s a big week for us, we’re continuing to prepare for the season and week one is coming up,” Stefanski said. “But this is a big part of it and all the meetings, the lifts, the training, whatever, it’s all really, really important. But first we have to make some corrections from last night.”

As the Browns now focus on the upcoming week of training camp, we take a final look at three of the best players from Saturday’s game against Green Bay.

Although backup QB Jameis Winston only played the first drive of the game, he led one of Cleveland’s two scoring drives – which ended with a long field goal by K Cade York.

On second and eight, Winston dropped back, assessed the field, and made a beautiful throw 18 yards to wide receiver Michael Woods II to put the Browns in field goal range.

“I thought he operated well,” Stefanski said of Winston after the game. “I know we talk about the word operation a lot, but it’s about getting your team from the huddle to the line of scrimmage, making the right run and pass checks and things like that. I thought he did a good job.”
