You are never too old to complete a university degree.

In this case, you are never too old to play college football.

Former Miami Marlins and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Monte Harrison, who played 50 games in the Major Leagues from 2020 to 2022, is now heading to college at the University of Arkansas, where he will play for the Razorbacks this fall as a 29-year-old first-year wide receiver.

Harrison, selected No. 50 overall in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft, passed up the opportunity to attend the University of Nebraska, where he committed to play both football and baseball. Harrison was a four-star football prospect in the class of 2014.

Because he never went to college and became a professional baseball player right out of high school, Harrison, who turns 29 on Saturday, August 17, has four years of college football eligibility remaining. Here’s a picture of Harrison at Arkansas practice on Thursday.

Harrison made it to the major leagues, but after playing in just 50 games in three seasons, he decided to hang up his boots. He batted .176 with two home runs, six RBIs and seven stolen bases.

Time will tell if Harrison will see much action for the Razorbacks, but Harrison’s story is certainly one to keep an eye on during the 2024 football season and beyond.
