LARGO, Fla. – A 23-year-old woman remains hospitalized after being attacked on the street in Largo last week.

Jermeria Holycross suffered a broken pelvis, a fractured rib, a broken leg, a cut on the face and abrasions.

Her mother, Tammy Holycross, said she received a call from her son, who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Two other children were also in the vehicle.

“He was screaming hysterically. I knew something was wrong. I couldn’t say exactly what it was because he wouldn’t say it. He just said he killed my sister,” said Tammy Holycross, Jermeria’s mother.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 10, around 3:00 p.m. on US Highway 19 and East Bay Drive in Largo.

Police arrested 57-year-old Boris Twillman for attempted premeditated murder.

According to an affidavit, he drove into Holycross’s vehicle. Holycross believed she had been hit from behind and stopped her car to assess the damage. Officers said Twillman then intentionally hit her with his Jeep, trapping her between the vehicles and dragging her.

The report also states that the victim told police that the suspect smiled at her and then “accelerated rapidly” toward her, hitting her with his vehicle.

Officials said Twillman left the scene of the accident but later called police and told them something had happened on U.S. 19, but that he was not personally involved in the accident.

“He followed her for about 10 to 15 minutes, she said. She said I kept avoiding him and he stayed behind me,” Tammy Hollycross said.

“This can’t be true, this can’t happen to our family. Jermeria is such a good girl. She is lively, bright and full of energy,” said her aunt Misty Moore.

Moore said Jermeria now needs to learn to walk again. They hope she will be released from the hospital soon.

“There is nothing more serious in the world than that someone’s life would be worth it just to get home faster,” Moore said.

“It could have happened to anyone.”

Twillman remains in the Pinellas County Jail, charged with attempted murder and hit-and-run.
