21-year-old woman falls out of car and is hit by another vehicle, Mansfield police say

A woman who had called her mother to pick her up because she was too drunk to drive fell out of her car early Sunday and was struck by at least one other driver, according to Mansfield police.

The woman suffered serious injuries but is in a stable condition and is expected to survive, police said in a press release.

At about 1:14 a.m., officers received a call from the woman’s mother that the 21-year-old woman had fallen out of her car on Farm Road 917 and had been struck by another vehicle, the news release said. The mother turned her car around and drove back, found her daughter and called 911.

She told police she did not stop immediately because there was other traffic behind her, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the woman unconscious but breathing, the release said. She had serious injuries and officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures until she could be transported to John Peter Smith Hospital on a CareFlight flight.

No arrests have been made so far as Mansfield police are still investigating the incidents, the press release said.

Mansfield Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has video, such as dashboard camera video, to contact Officer Casey Knowles at [email protected].
