2024 Preseason Game 3 Steelers vs Lions Live Update and Discussion Thread – First Half

2024 Preseason Game 3 Steelers vs Lions Live Update and Discussion Thread – First Half

The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the road for their final game of the season against the Detroit Lions. Their performance, especially on offense, has been disappointing in the last two games, so this is their last chance to turn things around before the games get serious. A little momentum wouldn’t hurt.

Russell Wilson will start again, with Justin Fields coming in after him. Mike Tomlin talked about balancing this as a warm-up game, but also making sure the guys on the reserve list get their chance, like the old fourth preseason game in the past. How much the reserve players get to play depends on how successful the starting lineups are. Last week, Wilson and Fields weren’t scheduled to play the entire game, but they did because they weren’t getting results.

Will Broderick Jones and the offensive line show signs of improvement? That will be one of the most important things to keep an eye on as the Steelers are still trying to figure out their starting tackle situation between Jones, Troy Fautanu and Dan Moore Jr.

If you haven’t participated in a match thread yet, thanks for tuning in! I’ll be updating this post throughout the first half with video highlights, match reports, interesting tweets, injury updates and more. Also, be sure to join the discussion at the bottom of the page in the comments section.

Those ineligible include TJ Watt, Cameron Heyward, Alex Highsmith and Joey Porter Jr.

Mason McCormick will take over the center position during warmups. He could be the backup center since Nate Herbig is now on the injured list.

With Porter out, Cory Trice Jr. and Darius Rush have a great chance to compete for the job as the best backup cornerback. According to Gerry Dulac, Trice will start.

Russell Wilson was the only captain in the coin toss. He won and chose to receive.
