2024 Little League World Series Schedule, Teams and How to Watch – NBC10 Philadelphia

2024 Little League World Series Schedule, Teams and How to Watch – NBC10 Philadelphia

While one global competition came to an end in Paris, another is about to begin in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Little League World Series is in its third year since it was converted to a 20-team tournament. Ten teams from the United States and ten international teams from around the world will end their summer with a chance to etch their names in Little League history.

Here’s a look at the 20 teams heading to Williamsport, the full schedule and more for the 2024 Little League World Series.

When will the 2024 Little League World Series take place?

The Little League World Series begins on Wednesday, August 14th and ends on Sunday, August 25th.

In addition to the championship game on August 25, there are several other notable events throughout the 12-day tournament.

The New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers will face off in the MLB Little League Classic at historic Bowman Field on Sunday, August 18, the Little League Home Run Derby will be on Thursday, August 22, and the Challenger Division Exhibition Game will be played on Saturday, August 24.

Where will the 2024 Little League World Series take place?

Williamsport will host the 2024 tournament, as it has done for all previous editions of the Little League World Series.

The competition takes place at two venues that are right next to each other: Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Volunteer Stadium.

Lamade Stadium will host all games between U.S. teams, two games between international teams, the third-place consolation game, and the Little League World Series final. Volunteer Stadium will host all other games between international teams, as well as the Little League Home Run Derby.

What channel is the Little League World Series on?

All games will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC. Matches can also be streamed on Watch ESPN and the ESPN app.

What is the format for the 2024 Little League World Series?

The Little League World Series introduced a 20-team tournament in 2022, but it is nowhere near as straightforward as the previous 16-team tournament.

Metro and mountain regions have been added to the US side, but the international side is a bit more complicated.

Cuba, Panama and Puerto Rico are now part of a rotation in which two of the teams automatically qualify while the other participates in its respective regional tournament. Cuba and Puerto Rico had automatically qualified for the 2024 tournament, while Panama competed as part of the Latin America region and did not receive a trip to Williamsport.

Not every team starts the Little League World Series in the same position as part of the 20-team bracket. Four teams on each side of the bracket will play an additional game, while two other teams on each side will have to wait for the results of those games to find out their first opponent.

From there, the tournament follows a double elimination format until the US Finals and the International Finals. The winners of these two matches will compete for the LLWS title.
