GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Nearly three months later, Gainesville police arrested 19-year-old Jeffery Ivian Morrison on Friday night for having sex with a 14-year-old minor.

Officers initially responded to a domestic disturbance call on June 8, where witnesses reported Morrison and the victim coming out of the pool bathroom of a local apartment complex.

According to the police report, Morrison fled the area.

On July 18, officers transferred Morrison after an argument with the victim. The victim lied to officers and gave false information about her year of birth during an out-of-custody interview.

During the same conversation, Morrison told police that the victim said he was 17 years old.

Later that same day, the victim was arrested for violating probation. According to the arrest report, she stated that she had met with adult men who wanted to have sexual relations with her.

After executing a search warrant for the victim’s phone on July 26, officers found evidence that Morrison had sexual relations with the minor.

When Morrison was arrested on Friday night, he stated that the original incident in June was consensual.

Lewd and lascivious assault is a second-degree felony in Florida.
