According to the department, several officers opened fire, killing Delgadillo and sending a bystander to the hospital with minor injuries.

The task force found a firearm at the crime scene, but the cause of the shooting is unclear.

“Task force personnel and Anaheim Police made contact with the suspect and an officer-involved shootout occurred,” the press release said.

Witnesses: 15 to 20 shots fired

Witnesses told local media that about 15 to 20 shots were fired.

“I didn’t hear (the officers) until they yelled for the man to put his hands up or stop,” Donovan Jimenez told ABC affiliate KABC. “After that, they did. From then on, we saw the whole medical team arrive.”

According to a Marshalltown police news release, Delgadillo was wanted for murder in connection with a June shooting in Iowa.
