CHICAGO RIDGE, IL — A 17-year-old boy is facing adult charges after he shot and killed another 17-year-old boy at Chicago Ridge Mall Saturday night, according to police.

“This had nothing to do with Dick’s (Sporting Goods) in any way,” said Chief Jim Jarolimek of the Chicago Ridge Police Department. “They just happened to run into each other.”

The Cook County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. The teenager is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Monday.
