The 169th Bureau County Fair begins Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Sunday, August 25, at the Bureau County Fairgrounds, 811 W. Peru St., Princeton.

The gates open on Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 11:00 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 7:00 a.m.

The North American Midway hosts its carnival at the fairgrounds. Fairground hours are Wednesday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. to close and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to close. Wristbands cost $30 and allow unlimited rides at certain times during the fair.

Country music star Mitchell Tenpenny will provide entertainment in the stands on Thursday, the Illini State Pullers truck and tractor pull teams will provide entertainment in the stands on Friday, and a demolition derby will be held in the stands on Saturday.

Veterans are admitted free on Wednesday. Thursday is Senior Citizens Day, when seniors age 62 and older receive admission for $2. Admission is $5 for those ages 10 and older and $10 for a car full of people. An exhibitor pass is $10. Thursday’s Mitchell Tenpenny concert is not included.

On Friday and Saturday there will be a little foretaste of the Nightmare Haunted Attraction.
