During the same period, a total of 232 shooting victims suffered non-fatal injuries, 24 of whom were under 18 years of age.

Since those statistics were released, the Journal Sentinel has also reported on other shootings of minors, including 16-year-old Benjamin Mazaba, who was shot and killed in the 4200 block of South 52nd Street on July 30.

On June 19, a 17-year-old Milwaukee boy was shot and killed after a festival in Washington Park on Juneteenth. Organizers faced criticism for their handling of the event, which they ended early, but defended their actions and city officials largely supported the handling of the event.
